This afternoon, Governor Greg Gianforte announced the official opening of the Montana Asia Trade Office in Taipei. First opened in 1988, the newly reopened Trade Office will focus on generating new business opportunities for Montana and expanding sales and investments across the wheat, pulse crops, machinery, education, optics, coal, and pharmaceutical sectors. In the past two years, Taiwan purchased more than $175 million of Montana goods, making it one of Montana’s largest trading partners. The Montana Wheat and Barley Committee recently estimated that over 70 percent of Montana’s wheat goes to markets in the Pacific Rim.
