The 2020 Montana State Parks Annual Visitation Update reveals a substantial increase in visitors at state recreation facilities. Specifically, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks said last Thursday 3.4 million people visited state parks in 2020, a 30 percent increase from the previous year and an 83 percent increase in the last ten years. In the first quarter of 2021, state parks were seeing a 20 percent increase from last year. FWP officials said this can create management challenges, but that it’s not a problem.
