Billings is the new Number 1 on The Wall Street Journal/Realtor.com Emerging Housing Markets Index boosted by its affordability and appeal to remote workers. The index reflects how the housing boom has ignited homebuying activity in smaller to midsize cities around the U.S. The top 20 cities in the ranking have an average population size of just over 300,000. In the latest index rankings published today, the number two metro area is Coeur d’Alene the lakeside Idaho city that held the top position when the index premiered in April.
