The problem of high turnover remains the same across Montana where 65% of rural schools in remote settings report difficulty filling vacancies compared with 35% of nonrural schools. This school year, with the coronavirus pandemic making it even harder to bring in teachers from elsewhere, education leaders in the state issued 122 emergency waivers for unlicensed teachers to work in classrooms the highest number since at least 2005. At just below 75% Montana has the highest share of rural schools of any state.

Starting today RiverStone Health’s free COVID-19 testing site in Billings has moved to the RiverStone Health Clinic’s Viral Care Clinic. That doesn’t affect everyone however. Communications Specialist Emily Nantz.
