In: News Headlines

A Montana state senator Jason Ellsworth of Hamilton faces misdemeanor charges after he was stopped for speeding through a construction zone at night. Court records say he told a trooper he was going to call the attorney general whose agency includes the Montana Highway Patrol. Ellsworth was stopped May 23rd between Townsend and Helena. Court records say he got out of his car and brought up the state Constitution on his phone to show the trooper he could not be arrested because he was on his way to legislative business. His meeting was about 10 hours later, less than 30 miles away.
