Senator Steve Daines is asking the Biden Administration to be more aggressive about reaching an agreement to re-open the Canadian border to regular traffic after rising vaccination rates in Montana as the busy summer travel season approaches. MTN News reports Canadian vaccination rates continue to lag behind Montana in particular, but Daines says he’ll continue to press the Administration to find a workable solution for both borders.
How redistricting should go has been laid out by Montana lawmakers in legislation, but critics say this violates the state constitution which crated an independent redistricting commission so legislators wouldn’t be part of the process. Jeff Essmann, one of the redistricting commissioners, says what’s important for the drawing of fair districts is keeping communities together and inviting the public into the process.
