Various agencies have come together to address elder abuse in Montana through regional councils. Former prosecutor Paul Greenwood who has been involved with them over the years pointed out recently on Voices of Montana it’s often those closest to the victims who are the abusers.
Montana Increasing Efforts To Address Elder Abuse
Elder abuse is on the rise and Montana has responded by forming four regional elder justice councils. San Diego County District Attorney Paul Greenwood has been actively involved with them over the years and recently on Voices of Montana said their approach originated from financial abuse specialist teams across the country.
Elder Abuse Reports Rising Across Montana
A record 4,500 Montanans were victims of elder abuse in 2020 an increase of nearly 30% since 2018. Former San Diego County District Attorney Paul Greenwood was on Voices of Montana Friday.
