Oil companies have adopted the term “mature” to describe the Bakken in Eastern Montana and Western North Dakota. Even soaring oil prices have not been enough to interest companies in significantly boosting their activity there with the U.S. oil-pricing benchmark Brent Crude trading for $95 a barrel. U.S. oil producers are now more focused on growing their operations in the Permian Basin of Texas and New Mexico.
