Native American Voters Voice Concerns Over Montana’s New Voting Laws

It was a long struggle for Native Americans to gain the right to vote and they still face barriers. Keaton Sunchild with the nonpartisan voting organization Native Voice in Montana says Indigenous people still are also dealing with racist narratives as well. Even state lawmakers have questioned why trial members have the right to vote and that can make it uncomfortable to speak up about voting rights. However the Native American voting block has changed recent elections. Sunchild says his group leans on the fact it did take a long time for Native Americans to gain the right to vote when they’re encouraging people to the polls.
