Rupert Murdoch and his wife Jerry have purchased the 340,000-acre Beaverhead Ranch property for a reported nearly $200 million setting a new record for Montana ranch sales. The News Corporation Chairman and CEO is the world’s 85th richest person with a net worth of about $21.6 billion. It was purchased about 70 years after Fred Koch founder of the crude oil company that would later become Koch Industries originally bought it. Spanning 50 miles and falling across two counties the property holds 25 homes which are largely inhabited by the ranch’s employees.
