Canada is a significant trading partner for Montana especially in regards to Montana’s almost $4 billion tourism industry. November 8th is the day announced by the Biden administration for reopening of the Canadian border for leisure travel for people who are vaccinated. It has been closed to all but essential travel since March 2020. While the level of tourism can vary from year to year depending on the value of the U.S. dollar compared to the Canadian dollar some years the number of visitors from Canada have been reported to exceed the number form Washington, Idaho and North Dakota combined.
Governor Greg Gianforte believes he knows one reason people are coming to Montana.
