This is National Energy Awareness Month. The average American household spends at least $2,000 per year on utilities and another $1,568 on motor fuel and oil. With U.S. energy consumption having declined by 7% last year the Wallet Hub today released its report on 2021’s most energy efficient states. The personal-finance website compared the auto-and-home energy efficiency in 48 states excluding Alaska and Hawaii due to data limitations. Montana ranks 29th.
The energy Industry has begun transitioning from carbon-based energy towards cleaner renewables but it will take some time to completely change over. Rural Electric Magazine Editor Scot Hoffman put this process into perspective recently at the Montana Electric Cooperative Association’s Annual Meeting.
