In May, Governor Greg Gianforte announced the state will stop paying the higher pandemic-related federal unemployment benefits this month. While unemployment numbers have gone down, Andrew Stettner with the Century Foundation says there are still too many barriers to jobs for people such as lack of child care and the cutoff will affect more than 31,000 Montana workers who won’t bet getting some $154 million in federal funds.
