The 2020 Census count was officially released today, and based on the state’s population growth, the Treasure State will regain a second congressional seat. Montana’s population grew from 989,415 to 1,085,407 since the last census, a growth rate of nearly 10 percent. The Montana Districting and Apportionment Committee will draw up the boundaries of the two congressional districts and local legislative districts in the upcoming months. U.S. Census Bureau Director Dr. Ron Jarmin revealed all the congressional changes during a virtual press conference.
