With A High Suicide Rate Montana Legislature To Consider Update To Suicide Prevention Program Today

Montana’s suicide rate is constantly among the highest in the nation. Today Montana lawmakers will consider a bill that would update the state’s Suicide Prevention Program. Matt Kuntz who heads the National Alliance on Mental Illness in Montana says suicides have hit the state’s rural areas hard. It also affects native youths disproportionately. He says that’s why the bill lays out partnering with tribes.
