Bozeman has agreed to give the nonprofit Human Resource Development Council nearly $300,000 to turn an empty building into an emergency shelter. It will serve as an interim winter shelter as HRDC works toward building Bozeman’s first year round shelter for people without a home.

Tuesday the Montana Federation of Public Employees announced it had elected Amanda Curtis as its new leader. She replaces Eric Feaver who has held the spot for the past 35 years and is retiring. She and her husband Kevin, an artist and freelance videographer, will move to Helena from Butte but they’ll keep their house in the mining city.
