At what is now essentially the beginning of the tourist season travel and tourism related businesses are concerned that current coronavirus restrictions could extend into the busy summer season causing even more economic hardship. In Montana tourism is the second largest contributor to the economy. By mid-March nearly 50% of hotel motel and other accommodation businesses had cancellations due to the coronavirus as well as 30% of outfitters and guides and that was before any cases of COVID-19 had been detected in the state.
