Northwestern Energy is temporarily closing customer service centers and halting service disconnections for non-payment due to concerns over the coronavirus. Suspending disconnections will remain in effect until further notice to help customers who may be financially impacted as the result of the outbreak. The company is instituting work from home practices.
Governor Steve Bullock has amended Montana’s current state of emergency to align it with the federal state of emergency announced by President Donald Trump. The state’s emergency response will be in effect so long as federal authorities believe there is a continuing coronavirus threat.
Lieutenant Governor Mike Cooney has put himself in quarantine until Friday after he attended a meeting in which one of the participants later tested positive for the coronavirus. Cooney has tested negative for COVID-19 and has been asymptomatic. Staff members who attended the meeting with Cooney are under self-quarantine as well.
