Under a proposal by the Montana Department of Livestock, the 2008 plan allowing an unlimited number of bison to roam west of Yellowstone National Park will come to an end and, under a new plan, bison would be hazed, captured or slaughtered, if too many cross Yellowstone's western border at once. Bison migrate out of Yellowstone during the winter, in search of grass.
